a poem

I must apologize
to myself for the
times when I thought 
I gave a shit and
decided it was better
if I stayed.

I must apologize
to myself for when
my spirit collapsed
and my body chose
to protect me by
telling my conscious
to disassociate

I must apologize
to myself for thinking
the situation was more
important than my
trauma
